The closest bond in the family is the one between a mother and her daughter. A bittersweet relationship, it goes through numerous ups and downs in life but in the end, still turns out to be the most intimate of all the other relationships.

Since the time the daughter was still a child, she copies her mom and wants to be like her. When she becomes a teenager, she starts to feel that the person who understands her least is her mother. As she grows older she realizes that the friend she was searching for throughout the years was there with her all along, and that friend is none other than her Mom!

The purpose of the mothers and daughters of Excellence awards is to honor mothers and daughters who have a special and unique relationship, a story of perseverance, survival, empowerment and community service.
